Question

Could you please guide me in the right direction?

Back in 2001, when I was 21 yrs old I had received my G1. In the spring of 2002 I had successfully completed my G2. On my birthday in 2005 my licence had expired. I had an extension placed on it to go for my G. I was not able to complete the road test due to a burnt out tail light. I was advised that I would have to start from the written test again without the waiting period. At the time finances were very thin and I was not using a vehicle no longer, ended up using the transit system. As of February of last year (2009) things started to get better and I was able to obtain my licence again. In the month of February I had received my G1 and G2 once again, and now have an appointment for my G licence as of March 24th. My renewal is up as of March 16th…I am looking around for quotes and if I can get a cheaper quote I will be switching insurers, but not until I have received my graduated licence.

So, the question is; When inputing information online is it ok for me to say that I have my G licence? As well as when questions such as, “When did I receive my G1 and G2″? What do I put down for that? Technically I had received my G1 and G2 back in 2001 and 2002.

I really need to save money, my current renewal has gone up $50 and I really do think that I am paying way too much for auto and rental insurance. Please guide me in the right direction.

Thank you very much.

  1. Sean Graham says:

When inputting your information online, your insurance quotes will only be as accurate as the information you enter. In your case, you may enter in a “G” date as of March 24 and your quote effective date as March 24 in order to receive an accurate quote. Of course, if you happen not to pass your “G” road test, your quote will not be valid.

As for your G1 and G2 dates, you must enter in the most recent G1 and G2 dates in order to receive an accurate quote. Since you have not been licensed for numerous years you will not get credit for continuous driving experience. Entering in dates from 2001 and 2002 will not give you a valid quote.
