Question

What happens if you decide to ignore a travel warning?

I remember a while back with the H1N1 scare in Mexico the Canadian government issued a travel warning. I heard of  people going regardless. Would their travel insurance have covered them if they had become sick?

Travel insurance is meant to protect you in the event of unexpected and unforeseen events. Your decision to ignore a travel warning could mean you’re expecting the unexpected and you may not be covered, depending on your insurance coverage.

Check out the following article titled, “Travel warnings: When issued are you covered?” on the Kanetix.ca site. It offers more information on the topic.

To see if where you are going has a travel warning visit the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada website.
